Softball Recap: South Webster Jeeps vs. Dawson-Bryant Hornets
South Webster had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-12 to make it six. They fell 7-4 to the Dawson-Bryant Hornets. The Jeeps were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Kaylee House was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Dawson-Bryant, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.
On Dawson-Bryant's side, Abbie Deeds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Deeds has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kasey Vanderhoof was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mia Haynes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As of now, neither South Webster nor Dawson-Bryant have any future games scheduled.
