Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Joliet Central Steelmen
Plainfield South and Joliet Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Plainfield South Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Joliet Central Steelmen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield South is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Plainfield South pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-62 to Naperville North. Plainfield South found out winning isn't easy when you nail eight fewer threes than your opponent.
The losing side was boosted by Jazlynn Foster, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Demi Page, who scored nine points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Joliet Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 72-53 fall against Oswego East. While losing is never fun, Joliet Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Oswego East is ranked 142nd).
Plainfield South's record is now 13-7. Joliet Central's record now sits at 6-14.
Plainfield South took their victory against Joliet Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 70-44. With Plainfield South ahead 40-20 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
