Softball Recap: Tulare Western Triumphs

Tulare Western won the last time they faced Porterville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Mustangs walked away with a 10-5 win over the Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Brookelyn Lancaster was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lancaster was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivea Salcedo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (three). Makayla Leon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Tulare Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Tulare Western's record is now 11-3-1. As for Porterville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Tulare Western will be taking part in a tournament against Taft at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Porterville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Templeton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
