Softball Recap: Northwest Drops Season-High Score on West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest). They blew past the West Pioneers 18-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lilly Hoffman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kam Stubbs was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Mia Touchatt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northwest pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northwest beat the Pioneers by a score of 15-0 later that day.
