Softball Game Preview: Murdock Blue Devils vs. Gardner Wildcats

The Murdock Blue Devils will challenge the Gardner Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Murdock needed a bit of extra time to put away Montachusett RVT. They skirted past the Bulldogs 3-2.

Kassandra Santos spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Sadie Bauver was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenndra Lamb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Gardner came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Algonquin Regional on Wednesday.

Murdock's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Gardner, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Murdock suffered a grim 26-2 defeat to Gardner when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
