Basketball Recap: Jefferson Falls to Veterans Memorial in First Game of Season

Jefferson had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Veterans Memorial Patriots and fell 77-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since November 25, 2024.

Despite the loss, Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Philip Prather, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Veterans Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aj Dennis out in front who shot 63% from the field to rack up 14 points and three steals. Charles Ford was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 13 points.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will head out on the road to face off against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will be playing at home against SA Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
