St. John Bosco's DJ Uiagalelei and Mater Dei's Bryce Young both had tremendous seasons and are Co-Players of the Year on the MaxPreps California All-State team presented by Suddenlink by Altice..

Uiagalelei led the Braves to their first state title since 2016 and ended the year with 4,225 yards passing and had 48 touchdowns to only two interceptions. He also ran for over 400 yards and eight more scores. In the CIF Division 1 section championship and CIF state title game against Mater Dei and De La Salle he threw for 856 yards and nine touchdowns.

Young played lights out all season against one of the toughest schedules in the country. The 2020 Alabama signee threw for over 4,500 yards and 58 touchdowns. He added another 10 scores on the ground.

The Braves' Jason Negro takes home the award for Coach of the Year after leading St. John Bosco to the CIF state championship and they had notable wins over DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), Liberty (Henderson, Nev.), Servite (Anaheim), JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano), Calabasas, Corona Centennial, Mater Dei (Santa Ana), and De La Salle (Concord).

Joins Vaughns as UCLA signees to make the first team in the secondary. Had six interceptions during his senior season and nearly 600 yards receiving to go with 12 touchdowns.

Has been one of the best two-way players in California the last two seasons. The 2020 San Jose State signee had a monster game in the CIF Open Division state championship against St. John Bosco rushing for 112 yards and three scores while racking up 12 tackles.

Led the state with an average of 47.1 yards per punt and also made 6-of-7 field goals on the year.

Second Team

Threw for 5,035 yards and 71 touchdowns while leading Corona del Mar to its first state title since 2013.

The 2020 Ohio State signee was named The Opening MVP earlier this summer and answered that with a big-time senior season. He threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 47 touchdowns while leading the Cougars to the CIF Southern Section Division 2 semifinals.

Rushed for over 1,700 yards and 24 touchdowns while leading the Tritons to the CIF Division 2-A state title. The future Fresno State Bulldog also had a team high eight interceptions.

The Arizona baseball commit showed he can ball out on the gridiron too. Rushed for over 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. One of his most impressive games came against a team loaded with Division 1 recruits, Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.). He rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns in the Dons 18-10 win.

This group of wide receivers on the Second Team would be on the First Team in just about any other state. Bryant Jr. is one of the most explosive playmakers in the country and had nearly 1,200 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.

The future Georgia Bulldog should make an immediate impact in the SEC. One of the toughest receivers to cover in high school football.

Leads a loaded Class of 2020 for the Washington Huskies. Had 89 receptions for over 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Anytime Uiagalelei needed a big third down conversion, Loya was his No. 1 option. The future UCLA Bruin hauled in 72 receptions for 1,109 yards and nine touchdowns.

The third offensive lineman from Mater Dei on the all-state team. Helped give the Monarchs one of the best offensive lines in the nation.

Just like the Monarchs, St. John Bosco has three players on the offensive line to make the all-state team. Riley had a strong junior campaign and will be one of the best lineman in the state next season.

The leader on defense for the CIF Division 2-A state champs. He and Banks will add tremendous depth for Arizona State.

Had a team high four interceptions for the No. 1 team in high school football.

One of the best shutdown cornerbacks on the West Coast. Quarterbacks rarely looked his direction and it's down to Michigan or USC for the 4-star recruit.

Joins McMillan as the only sophomores to make the all-state team. Checks in at No. 10 overall in the Class of 2022 on 247sports and is the top rated player in California.

The future Oregon Duck had a team-high five interceptions for one of the most talented secondaries in the country.

Easily one of the best all-around players in the nation. Broke Robert Wood's single season school record for receptions as a junior and answered that with a strong senior year. Led a talented Serra team in receiving and interceptions.

Dangerous playmaker on both sides of the ball. Had four interceptions and nearly 1,500 yards receiving to go with seven touchdowns for one of the best teams in Southern California.
