Oratory Prep came tearing into Wednesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Johnson Crusaders 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on April 8th.

Thomas Albanito tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Oratory Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devon Mulvaney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Oratory Prep's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Johnson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oratory Prep is set to challenge their familiar foe Elizabeth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 4, the Minutemen 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Johnson will face off against rival Union at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
