Softball Game Preview: Central Square Redhawks vs. East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans

The Central Square Redhawks will take on the East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Square will be strutting in after a win while East Syracuse-Minoa will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Central Square got the win against Jordan-Elbridge by a conclusive 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redhawks.

Caytlin Redeye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Redeye was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Payton St.Clair was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Savannah Staats, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Central Square kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jordan-Elbridge only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, East Syracuse-Minoa fell victim to Jamesville-DeWitt and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Red Rams, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Red Rams: they've now lost nine in a row.

East Syracuse-Minoa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Central Square, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Central Square came out on top in a nail-biter against East Syracuse-Minoa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Redhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
