Softball Recap: Oconomowoc Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Oconomowoc, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the West Bend East Suns on Friday. This was payback for the Raccoons, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kelsey Yambor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macy Brazelton, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Winkelman, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oconomowoc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matches.

Oconomowoc's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Bend East, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Oconomowoc will head out to face off against Kettle Moraine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Bend East, they will take on Waukesha West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Suns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
