Softball Recap: Foothills Christian Wins Going Away Against Madison

Foothills Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Madison on Friday. The Knights blew past the Warhawks 15-3. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Emma Romeka made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Gabby Wolford was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Gomez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Foothills Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Madison, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

Looking ahead, Foothills Christian will take on University City at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison, they will square off against Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
