Softball Recap: Maple Mountain Wins Going Away Against Providence Hall

Maple Mountain saw some tournament action on Friday. They put the hurt on the Providence Hall Patriots with a sharp 12-2 win. Maple Mountain's victory was all the more impressive since the Patriots were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.

Carly Erickson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyla Donegan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Ekenstam, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3.

Maple Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence Hall only posted a batting average of .200.

The win got Maple Mountain back to even at 1-1. As for Providence Hall, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Maple Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-10 victory against Hurricane on the 7th. As for Providence Hall, they have also already played their next matchup, a 15-0 defeat against Riverton on the 7th.
