Baseball Recap: Overhills Drops Highest Score of Season Against E.E. Smith

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overhills). They put the hurt on the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls with a sharp 18-2 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Golden Bulls: they've now won nine in a row.

Isaac Devine made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Overhills: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Overhills let Montrell James and Houston Poole run wild. James scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Poole scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs James has posted since back in March of 2024. Kolt Berry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Overhills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

The win got Overhills back to even at 4-4. As for E.E. Smith, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Overhills beat E.E. Smith by a score of 15-1 later that day.
