Baseball Recap: Lyons Triumphs

While Lyons put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Front Range Christian. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 2-0. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jake LaCrosse was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Lyons is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. LaCrosse was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

LaCrosse wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Henry Lynch, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Front Range Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Lyons will head out on the road to challenge The Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.25 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Front Range Christian, they will host St. Mary's at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.6 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
