Softball Recap: Capital Wins Going Away Against Elk Valley Christian

Capital made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Elk Valley Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Eagles on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Faithanna Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Capital let Jadan Bishop and Reese Lovern run wild. Bishop scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Lovern scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Lovern a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn Crowder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Capital's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Elk Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Capital will head out to challenge Spring Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk Valley Christian, they will be playing at home against Clay County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
