Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kandler Martin and Olivia Rackley Lead John Hancock Academy to Victory

There's no place like home for John Hancock Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 51-38 victory over the David Emanuel Academy Eagles on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-34 two weeks ago.

John Hancock Academy was led to victory by Olivia Rackley and Kandler Martin. Rackley posted 24 points, while Martin earned 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rackley has scored at least a third of John Hancock Academy's points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Peebles, who scored 12 points and five boards. Those 12 points gave Peebles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyli Bell, who had four points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

John Hancock Academy pushed their record up to 10-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for David Emanuel Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Coming up, John Hancock Academy will challenge Covenant Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for David Emanuel Academy, they will face off against Thomas Jefferson Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
