Softball Recap: William Blount Triumphs

William Blount proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Maryville Red Rebels, sneaking past 9-7. The game was the first time the Governors have beaten the Red Rebels on their field since April 21, 2022.

Chloe Merriman was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abi McCauley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

William Blount is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Maryville's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

Looking ahead, William Blount will head out to face off against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maryville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Maryville is facing Carter at the right time seeing as Carter is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
