Softball Recap: Banning Comes Up Short

Banning saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Manogue Miners. That's two games in a row now that the Pilots have lost by exactly three runs.

Alana Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kali Sue made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Talanoa, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Banning has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. The victory snapped Bishop Manogue's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Banning wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-3 defeat against Poly on the 21st. As for Bishop Manogue, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against Basic on the 21st.
