Harnett Central took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They really took it to the Northwood Chargers for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-7 win. The Trojans pushed the score to 41-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers had no chance of recovering from.

Ro'Shawn Towson was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 157 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries. Those 157 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Josiah Grice was in the mix as well, providing Harnett Central with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Harnett Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood only rushed for 105 rushing yards.

Another reason for the win was Harnett Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Waltereke Gunn refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Dj Brown got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, Harnett Central will square off against Overhills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwood, they will challenge Asheboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
