Baseball Game Preview: Anderson Indians vs. Kokomo Wildkats

For the second straight game, Anderson will face off against Kokomo. The Indians will head out to challenge the Wildkats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Anderson has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Kokomo will arrive with five straight wins.

On Thursday, Anderson came up short against Kokomo and fell 7-3.

For Kokomo's part, Eli Roe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Roe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kokomo got a great performance from Isaac Flamino as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Flamino has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on J.J. Gillespie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Kokomo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Kokomo's record is now 13-7. As for Anderson, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Anderson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kokomo struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
