Baseball Recap: Highlands Takes a Loss

Highlands fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Greensburg Salem on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Lions by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Rams in their meetings with the Golden Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Highlands saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake King, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Greensburg Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Highlands will be playing in front of their home fans against Apollo Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Golden Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greensburg Salem, they will head out on the road to take on Ringgold at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Lions 4, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
