Softball Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets
After five games on the road, Encinal is heading back home. They will take on the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Encinal will head into Wednesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against San Lorenzo on Wednesday. Encinal blew past San Lorenzo 16-2.
Emiko Takemoto and Cameron Tran made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Takemoto pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Tran pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Takemoto has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. In other batting news, Berkeley got a massive performance out of Charlotte Kurre-O'Heaney, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, a run, and a double. Melody Castro was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Encinal has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Berkeley, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
