Baseball Recap: Rancho Takes a Loss

After flying high against Western last Wednesday, Rancho came back down to earth. The Rams came up short against the Durango Trailblazers on Monday, falling 9-3. The Rams have struggled against the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Brady Paulson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Rancho's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't). William Patriquin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Rancho's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-13. As for Durango, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho will venture away from home to take on Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Durango, they will head out to face off against Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trailblazers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
