Softball Recap: Valley View Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Valley View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Batesville Pioneers 16-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-1 on Tuesday.

Avery Ellis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ellis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Whitlock and Lacey French did most of the damage at the plate: Whitlock went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while French scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That triple marked the first that Whitlock hit this season. Shelsi Mcelhannon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Valley View's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Batesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will square off against Beebe at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blazers 2.6, the Badgers 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Batesville, they will take on Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
