Basketball Game Preview: Blanket Tigers vs. May Tigers

The Blanket Tigers will head out to square off against the May Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Blanket is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Sidney.

Meanwhile, May waltzed into their match on Tuesday with 19 straight wins... but they left with 20. They breezed by the Mountaineers to the tune of 72-18. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Mountaineers are ranked 1586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

May's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Blanket, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Blanket won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January of 2020, slipping by May 68-67. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blanket since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
