Baseball Recap: Neosho Comes Up Short

Joplin hit Neosho with a five-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell 6-1 to the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Neosho got a good showing from Bostyn Patterson, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Patterson a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Neosho saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Workman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Workman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Neosho's defeat dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Joplin, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-15.

As of now, neither Neosho nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
