Plainfield Central hasn't had much luck against Lincoln-Way West recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. Plainfield Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Plainfield Central had taken Plainfield East down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Wildcats fell 8-4 to the Bengals.

Maeve Carlton and Ava Zitello stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carlton went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Zitello went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Melody Mojica also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West entered their tilt with Stagg on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lincoln-Way West pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Plainfield Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Plainfield Central came up short against Lincoln-Way West in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
