Buffalo and Edina are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bison are taking a road trip to take on the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Buffalo fell victim to Eden Prairie and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 8-0 to the Eagles. The Bison have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Buffalo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Bjorklund, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edina). They blew past Academy of Holy Angels 16-2 on Wednesday. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ella Meyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Edina got a massive performance out of Mia Kapoor, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Haley Cox was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Edina kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Edina and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Buffalo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Buffalo came up short against Edina in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
