Baseball Game Preview: Many Tigers vs. Buckeye Panthers

The Many Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Buckeye Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Many proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Leesville. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Kaghan Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonas Hendrickson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Ryder Gunter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Many kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Buckeye ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Jena 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Giants: they've now won three in a row.

Buckeye's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Many, their record is now 17-14.
