Basketball Recap: Unity Reed Takes a Loss

Unity Reed extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were dealt an 86-39 defeat at the hands of the Briar Woods Falcons. The Lions lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-38 score last time.

As for Briar Woods, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. That looming 86-39 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Josh Winklosky had an outrageously good game as he shot 78% from the field on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. He has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 78% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Grundy, who posted 11 points.

Coming up, Unity Reed will square off against Osbourn Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 73.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Briar Woods, they will challenge Heritage at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Pride have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
