Baseball Game Preview: Mooresville Blue Devils vs. A.L. Brown Wonders

The Mooresville Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the A.L. Brown Wonders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mooresville has six straight victories, A.L. Brown has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mooresville took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Forbush, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Falcons 5-4 on Wednesday.

Mooresville got a great performance from Connor Park as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, Park posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Mooresville let Luke Modrak and Gavin Barber run wild. Modrak scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Barber went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Cole Harvey was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, A.L. Brown came up short against North Stanly on Wednesday, falling 16-6. That's two games in a row now that the Wonders have lost by exactly ten runs.

A.L. Brown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Mooresville, their record now sits at 11-5.

Everything went Mooresville's way against A.L. Brown in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Mooresville made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
