Basketball Recap: Gallia Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Ryen Nunn and Mallory Petro

Gallia Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 57-49 to the Chesapeake Panthers. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Mallory Petro and Ryen Nunn certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Petro went 6-for-13 on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds, while Nunn almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Bennett, who posted nine points.

Gallia Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Chesapeake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Gallia Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chesapeake will take on rival South Point at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
