Recap: Caston Comets vs. West Central Trojans
The Caston Comets had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against West Central on Tuesday as Caston made off with a 62-37 win. Caston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Caston to victory were Isabel Scales and Addison Zimpleman. Scales scored 12 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Zimpleman scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Scales hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Douglass, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
West Central's loss came despite strong showings from Annika Smith and Kailee Bishop. Smith scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Bishop scored six points along with three steals. Bishop is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Mara Sharpe was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Caston's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for West Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Caston is on the road again on Friday and plays South Newton at 7:45 p.m. on February 2nd. Caston is facing South Newton at the right time seeing as South Newton is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. West Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
