Baseball Game Preview: Shorewood Stormrays vs. Monroe Bearcats

The Shorewood Stormrays are taking a road trip to square off against the Monroe Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Shorewood's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Shorewood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Nathan Hale by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stormrays.

Reid Oliveto looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Lukas Wanke was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kanata Barber also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Monroe suffered their biggest defeat since April 28, 2025 on Friday. They came up short against Lake Stevens, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bearcats, who until this matchup were averaging 3.06 runs allowed.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Shorewood, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.

Everything went Shorewood's way against Monroe in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Shorewood made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stormrays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
