Basketball Game Preview: Perry Central Commodores vs. Tecumseh Braves

Perry Central is 2-7 against Tecumseh since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Perry Central Commodores will host the Tecumseh Braves at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Perry Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 65-45 margin over Crawford County on Thursday. The Commodores have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Tecumseh had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They secured a 53-49 W over the Rangers. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Rangers are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tecumseh's win came from a few key players Perry Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Katelyn Marx, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 20 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Tecumseh's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Holder, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Tecumseh's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Perry Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
