Baseball Recap: Edgewood Academy Extends Winning Streak to Two

Edgewood Academy extended their postseason success on Thursday against Coosa Valley Academy. They never let the Rebels get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Landon Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Edgewood Academy: the team is 11-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Hudson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Jadon Quates was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Edgewood Academy and bumps their season record up to 17-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Coosa Valley Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-14.

As of now, neither Edgewood Academy nor the Rebels have any future games scheduled.
