Baseball Game Preview: Palmer Terrors vs. Woodland Park Panthers

The Palmer Terrors will take on the Woodland Park Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Palmer: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Woodland Park has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Palmer lost 13-3 to Sand Creek on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Woodland Park won against Harrison on Friday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Woodland Park beat Harrison by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The result was nothing new for Woodland Park, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cody Becker was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Link Bryden was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabe Marquez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Woodland Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Palmer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Woodland Park, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Palmer took their victory against Woodland Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-5. Does Palmer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodland Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
