Softball Recap: Riverton Starts off Right with Win over Sarcoxie

Riverton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Sarcoxie Bears with a sharp 19-4 victory on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Avery Barnett was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ariel Truster, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Sarcoxie's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverton will host New Heights Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sarcoxie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Baxter Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
