Baseball Preview: Hico Tigers vs. Rio Vista Eagles
The Hico Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Rio Vista Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Hico made easy work of Avalon and carried off a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Wyatt Honea made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Hico is 5-2 when Honea posts two or more runs, but 0-2-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Hico let Tyler Jackson and Michael Scheufele run wild. Jackson scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Scheufele scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Scheufele has become a key player for Hico: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Wilson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Hico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Rio Vista challenged Fort Worth Country Day on Saturday. Rio Vista lost 17-1 to Fort Worth Country Day. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Hico now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Rio Vista, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
