Baseball Recap: Sperry Has No Trouble Against Adair

Sperry's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Adair Warriors with a sharp 11-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Eric Poyner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Poyner was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Sperry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Aaden Miller was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Logan Mcguire was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Sperry's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Adair, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.

Coming up, Sperry will square off against Sequoyah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Adair, they will challenge Salina at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
