Gila Bend had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past the Berean Academy Eagles 17-6. The Gila Monsters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 11 runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Nadiyah Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Paityn Sly was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Gila Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .615 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Gila Bend picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Berean Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gila Bend will head out to face off against Thunderbird Adventist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Thunderbird Adventist Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something Gila Bend will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Berean Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Sequoia Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
