Softball Recap: Olean Wins Going Away Against Southwestern

Olean got themselves on the board against Southwestern on Wednesday, but Southwestern never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Huskies have won three matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Edwards made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Olean got a massive performance out of Riley Sudbrook, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Sudbrook has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Alaina Hirliman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

Olean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Olean has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern, they moved to 3-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Olean has already played their next game (against Salamanca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Southwestern, they will head out on the road to take on Falconer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
