Basketball Recap: Landon Marenco Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Dunnellon

There's no place like home for Mount Dora Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Dunnellon Tigers by a score of 71-58 on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mount Dora Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Marenco out in front who went 6 of 14 on his way to 21 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Marenco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Priest, who went 6 for 11 en route to 19 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Dunnellon still got an impressive performance from Tre'Quori Rollerson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Eli Nelson was another key player, going 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and eight blocks.

Mount Dora Christian Academy pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Dunnellon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Mount Dora Christian Academy and Dunnellon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Mount Dora Christian Academy will take on Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 310 places (330 vs. 20). Similarly, Dunnellon (ranked 443rd) will meet Santa Fe (ranked 196th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
