Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Gateway Christian Eagles

The Heritage Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Gateway Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Gateway Christian likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Heritage Christian earned a 56-46 win over First Baptist Academy. Given Heritage Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while First Baptist Academy is ranked 1245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gateway Christian fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against Austin Classical by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42.

Gateway Christian's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Heritage Christian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Heritage Christian took their win against Gateway Christian in their previous matchup last Saturday by a conclusive 63-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
