Baseball Game Preview: Letchworth Legends vs. Avon Braves

The Letchworth Legends will take on the Avon Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Letchworth is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Keshequa hit Letchworth with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Legends fell just short of the Indians by a score of 9-8. Legends fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Indians since on Thursday.

Letchworth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Whalen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Avon's offense. They lost 11-0 to Le Roy on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Braves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Letchworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Avon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Letchworth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Avon, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Letchworth's hitters?

Letchworth came out on top in a nail-biter against Avon when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Legends repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
