Basketball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale lost against Lehigh back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Riverdale Raiders were dealt a 92-33 defeat at the hands of the Lehigh Lightning. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Lightning are ranked 118th).

Riverdale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malachii Russ, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Rayshaun Lindor, who had nine points.

Riverdale dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lehigh, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Riverdale will be playing in front of their home fans against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lehigh, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mariner at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lehigh knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Mariner likes a good challenge.
