Baseball Recap: Chowchilla Wins Going Away Against Minarets

Chowchilla won against Minarets on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Tribe put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-1 win. The Tribe might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Dillon Watkins made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Davian Stephenson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Layne Turner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Chowchilla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minarets only managed three hits.

Chowchilla has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Minarets, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
