Baseball Game Preview: Navarro Panthers vs. Jay Mustangs

The Navarro Panthers will take on the Jay Mustangs in a tournament on Saturday. Navarro will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Navarro's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Pflugerville Connally as Navarro made off with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Austin Davidson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Caleb Wood and Colt Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Wood scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Brown scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, Wood posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ryan Davidson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Navarro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Jay came up short against Floresville on Friday, falling 12-1.

Navarro's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Jay, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
