The Giles Spartans will square off against the Fort Chiswell Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Fort Chiswell will be up against a hot Giles team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over Narrows on Wednesday. Considering the Spartans have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Addie Lowry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Giles got a massive performance out of Peyton Evans, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Addison Hylton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
Giles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Fort Chiswell brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against Galax on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-3 win. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Maroon Tide recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Like Giles, Fort Chiswell also got a great game from a two-way player: Blair Jackson. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Jackson has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Krista King, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Lilly Goforth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Fort Chiswell pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Giles, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Fort Chiswell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Giles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Fort Chiswell, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Giles' hitters?
