Football Recap: Winside's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Winside took on Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 39-28. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jayden Aschoff produced another solid effort throwing for 195 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jahiem Hamik was in the mix too, providing Winside with two TDs.

Defeat or not, Lyons-Decatur Northeast got some senior leadership from Kaden Knaak and Brady Hayes. Knaak picked up 158 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Hayes threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. Knaak didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Winside's record is now 3-1. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Winside will take on Walthill at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Blujays' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they will challenge Wynot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
